No, it's not even close to my birthday, but one of the gifts my brother did give me was a gift card to a favorite store here in Wichita...Gander Mountain. I finally took the time this evening on the way home to stop in and shop.
I found what every Grand-Daddy in snow country needs as soon as I walked in the door...snow saucers! I have desperately needed these, and it became embarrassingly apparent when we got snow on Thanksgiving and the grand-kids had to use cardboard boxes to slide down the hill. You can see some of it in my Thanksgiving blog. They also had the little chair sleds with a seat belt. So I spent half of my gift card to be ready for the kids when they come for Christmas. And if you're reading this God, please send snow for Christmas, too...
So what should I use the other half of my card for...? Then I saw the perfect t-shirt for me! Here's the front:

Some of you are already laughing because you know me so well. But for the rest of you...there are two big things represented in this image from the front of my new t-shirt: camping and sleeping with a dog. Personally, I really enjoy both...the rest of my family, not so much. Except for Elizabeth, who slept in my tent with me and Maryanne about a year ago in Great Grandma Maye's back yard.
Elizabeth wants me to sleep in the tent in the yard every time we're together. She has even said she might sleep in the tent with me again.
As for sleeping with the dog...simply let it be said I've enjoyed this as one of my first "dog" memories with my childhood's family dog Cookie. Now, it's a matter of trying to stay warm when Maryanne cools down the house for the evening getting ready for bed. You might remember that we've added a second dog to our household...thankfully we only have 2-dog nights in Kansas.
Well I hope you've enjoyed my story; Thanks for the birthday gifts Clark, Raylynna and family!
