Saturday...Rescheduled

Well, our Saturday didn't start out like we expected...I was awakened by the lightning and thunder about 5:00am. Yes, that 30% chance of rain had turned into a full-blown Midwest storm complete with hail and high winds. So I was very thankful we had decided not to "camp out" Friday night!

Here are the kids, Micah, Macy, and Elizabeth watching the rain...this was about 6:45

After the rain cleared up and everyone had gotten dressed, we went out to the most famous local donut shop in Wichita...Lamar's...think Shipley's in College Station, but with more of a coffee house flair. Unfortunately, this and the next couple events missed getting pictures taken for various reasons, but I'll share what we did together.

After donuts, we went to look at new cars. I'm very seriously considering this purchase, specifically the Dodge Caliber...an orange one! I'm going for efficient commuting with an attitude...imagine that if you can. We spent about an hour and a half with no decision...I don't think the kids were the only ones at the end of their rope, right Maryanne?

For lunch, we call Kierstyn for advice and decided on Two Brothers BBQ Buffet...unfortunately, very few places serve sweet tea, which definitely detracts from the overall effect. From lunch we headed back to the house for naps, and it was during this time that Maryanne realized that it was 77+ in the house with the thermostat set at 73...yes the AC has gone out! Thank goodness for the home warranty, but it's going to be an uncomfortable night tonight...glad I'm not driving 10+ hours tomorrow...

So, if the afternoon romp at the park hadn't been cancelled for rain, heat was the final blow. That how we ended up $2.50/ticket movie theater...

These pictures from the theater were a fun surprise...the folks that had hung around during the credits with us really appreciated the flash.

Then came the trip home for a bath and pajamas...and what Elizabeth and Micah tell us is a Krajca tradition: a pajama run! So we loaded up the truck and headed off to Freddy's...for ice cream that is...summer's treat...beats the heat...(sung to the Beverly Hillbillies theme).

You can see everyone had a great time...little did we expect what Shannon showed up with just after we had put the kids in bed... A fun little critter whose home was obviously flooded and was now seeking sanctuary. Yeah, that helped wind down the evening. Notice how much happier Shannonn looks in this picture?

But everyone under 26 years of age is now asleep and the other three of us are enjoying the respite...with no lights because where there's light, there's heat.

LOL! Never a dull moment. :-) Unless you're the mommy who only has one child rather than three.... then there are lots of dull moments... for once!
