Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (NKJV).
Our celebration and thanksgiving began on Tuesday afternoon when we learned that Maryanne's father had an outstanding report on his radiation and chemo treatments. The tumor was dramatically shrunken and the decision was to take no action for a month to see how things continue to progress. We thanked God, but the doctors were very pleased with themselves.
We did go down to Oklahoma City on Tuesday evening to visit with Dad and Mom Maye. This worked to also allow us to meet with Curtis, Kierstyn and kiddos late Tuesday night. We celebrated Dad's birthday on Wednesday morning with breakfast at Mimi's Cafe, and then we divided up the kids and headed back to Wichita.
We got to the house and then headed to the airport to pick up Matt and Megan coming in from Atlanta...let the games begin!
Thursday brought the traditional Thanksgiving dinner...family around the turkey! The one we roasted weighed 26 pounds and a lot of him is still in our refrigerator.
Matt and Megan taking some premature samples...
Kierstyn, Shannon and Megan
Benjamin is ready to go!
Don't count out Micah...
or big sister Elizabeth!
The day was wonderful and we had a great time. Friday was a quiet day with the boys staying home and watching football while the girls went to see Enchanted. While all this went on, I prepared for a fire and making s'mores.
Curtis' and Kierstyn's family gathers around the fire...
while the Megan and Matt get wrapped up for the cold...
and then Megan, Shannon and kids started toasting...
and in some cases...some were burning...the marshmallows. So what could make this even more fun and memorable? Can you tell what those big white blotches are? SNOW!!!
This the view from our deck...honestly, with the fireplace going, a cup of hot tea and family all around, it felt like we we living in a lodge...another wonderful blessing.
Maryanne, Elizabeth and Megan enjoy a quick bit of time on the deck.
Well, the fun didn't stop there...the older kids slept in our room on air mattresses. On Saturday morning they both climbed into bed with us and our two dogs. Lots of fun for every one.
And here we are this morning after church. Notice the snow is gone, but it was still cold. Notice the smiles; we all have had a great time.
God has blessed me greatly. This Thanksgiving has fulfilled all that any husband, father, and grandfather could wish for...
God has indeed blessed me greatly.
