A Thanksgiving Story

A friend related this story to me today...

A father had called his son shortly before Thanksgiving and shared that he and his wife had decided to divorce. The son was amazed...he recounted many of the wonderful times they had shared as a family trhrough his parent's almost 40 years of marriage. So he asked his Dad again if there was any option other than a divorce. Sadly his Dad said that it looked like their marriage was over, and he and Mom planned to go see a lawyer after Thanksgiving weekend.

Resigned to the situation, the son asked if there was anything he could do, and the Dad asked him to share the news with his sister. He just couldn't bring himself to tell her. The son agreed and they said good-bye.

It wasn't much later when the Dad received an emotional call from his daughter. She couldn't believe what her brother had told her. After several minutes of talking, she asked her Dad not to act rashly because she and her brother were coming out to see him and Mom before they met with the lawyers.

As the Dad was hanging up the phone, his wife walked into the room and asked what that call was all about. He calmly replied it was their daughter...she had told him that she and her brother were coming to visit for Thanksgiving and bringing their families!

That sounds like my kind of Dad...
